The General Missionary Baptist State Convention of Mississippi, Inc., President Reginald M. Buckley, recognized outstanding leaders from the community at the end of its 134th Annual Session with their 2nd Annual Freedom & Light Gala on July 20, 2023. L.C. Mitchell was awarded the Randle Pollard Leadership & Unity Award for his remarkable commitment to the causes of mission and ministries of the General Missionary Baptist State Convention of Mississippi.

Recipients of the Randle Pollard Leadership and Unity Award must be a Christian who have demonstrated a record in building relationship and bridging divides that help advance the cause of Christian fellowship and witness. Awardees should have worked to resolve conflicts and disputes, strengthen relational bonds, and maintain fellowship with the church and/or between parties that the blessed peace of the unity in Christ might be evident.

Awardees should be strong in their leadership, relationship building sills, and their ability to promote partnerships, encourage unity, and inspire a spirit of togetherness for the goodwill of all people.

L.C. Mitchell serves as the State Executive Director of the Laymen's Department of the Mississippi General Baptist State Convention and National Laymen Vice President of the Southwest Regional.
