Holistic Health: Balancing Worship, Worry and Wellness in African American Communities
Rev. Dr. Antoine Barlow
This course is a journey into the divine harmony of the human person. It begins with the biblical conviction that physical vitality and spiritual maturity are not meant to live in separate worlds. Drawing from the apostolic prayer in 3 John 1:2, this class is a practical response to the desire for our bodies to operate as well as our souls. We move past the modern obsession with vanity and instead enter the theological practice of stewardship. Participants will recognize that the body is the "earthen vessel" carrying a heavenly treasure; therefore, strengthening its frame is an act of honoring God, who created it. As we breathe and move, we bridge the gap between inner peace and outer strength. This class teaches all to prioritize fitness and faith to ensure that as we grow in grace, we also gain the endurance to live out our callings. This is more than a workout; it is a dedicated space to ensure that every part of us—heart, mind, and muscles—flourish in unison.
