Welcome to the GMBSC Annual Session

We are grateful to welcome you to this sacred gathering of churches, leaders, messengers, ministries, and friends from across Mississippi and beyond.

The Annual Session is more than a meeting. It is a time of worship, fellowship, teaching, preaching, reporting, and recommitment to the work God has placed before us. Throughout this session, we gather to be strengthened in faith, encouraged in service, and reminded of the shared mission that connects us as a Convention.

This course will focus on questions regarding historical and contemporary Christian faith. Students will explore the beliefs and interpretations of the faith and will be guided to develop a satisfying personal Christian belief system and life-purpose statement.

This course is designed to help students understand who God has uniquely made them to be. In addition, in this course, students will work through a spiritual gift assessment that will help them to discover their spiritual gift(s). Discovering their spiritual gift(s) will prepare them to move into a meaningful area of service where the best fit into the body of Christ.

8035- The African American Church and Social Justice

This course investigates the lives, theology, and methods of the great servants of God who dedicated their lives to the struggles for the liberation of people. The History of the United States cannot be accurately written without including the role of the African American church in the struggle for the liberation of people. Not enough is known about the lives of men and women who risked their very lives for this cause.

This course will focus on the Certificate of Progress Program writing requirements for Phase 3. Emphasis will be placed on the writing of documented research and the development of other skills necessary to complete the writing assignment in this phase. Students will be introduced to the library and the use of reference materials.

Holistic Health: Balancing Worship, Worry and Wellness in African American Communities

This course is a journey into the divine harmony of the human person. It begins with the biblical conviction that physical vitality and spiritual maturity are not meant to live in separate worlds. Drawing from the apostolic prayer in 3 John 1:2, this class is a practical response to the desire for our bodies to operate as well as our souls. We move past the modern obsession with vanity and instead enter the theological practice of stewardship. Participants will recognize that the body is the "earthen vessel" carrying a heavenly treasure; therefore, strengthening its frame is an act of honoring God, who created it. As we breathe and move, we bridge the gap between inner peace and outer strength. This class teaches all to prioritize fitness and faith to ensure that as we grow in grace, we also gain the endurance to live out our callings. This is more than a workout; it is a dedicated space to ensure that every part of us—heart, mind, and muscles—flourishes in unison.
